Holly Gilbert is a young and independent young woman living in a small Texas town in 1880. She makes her living by writing an anonymous advice column for her town newspaper. After witnessing her own parents' horrible marriage, she is determined never to marry and instead focuses on rebuilding her childhood home.

For rancher Damon Montgomery, Holly is a thorn in his side. As if it isn't bad enough that she's trying to set him up with every girl in town, he also has to make sure she doesn't break her neck trying to rebuild her home.

After getting in trouble with the law, Holly has no choice but to become Damon's wife. Can two completely different people come together in order to have a happy marriage?
